How I Rate the Industry

I have found that the easiest way to conceptualize this industry is by breaking it down into a tiered rating system.

About 80% of customers end up purchasing a cold plunge from Tier 2 level. Tier 2 is composed of companies that use very confusing marketing for their brands. It’s confusing because 90% of the brands in this tier are actually “Re-brands” coming from the same 4 manufacturers in China. These brands are almost identical to one another so each company simply makes up claims and marketing hype to appear different from their competition.

For this reason I have divided up Tier 1 and 2 into sub levels, A and B. The lower the tier the more drawbacks it has versus benefits.

My rating system is based off the following:
Warranty, temperature deviation, stagnant vs river experience, decibel level, grade of frame, depth of plunge, EMF level, splash over, and customer service.

My rating system is based off the following:
Warranty, temperature deviation (biggest complaint to keep it at 36 degrees), stagnant vs river experience, grade of frame, tub type, cleanliness of construction (off gassing chemicals), depth of plunge, EMF level, splash over, and customer service. If you want specific information on each brand and how it rates on each of these categories please ask.

Tier 1:

A – Renu Therapy Plunge (Stoic and Siberian)

Tier 2:

A – Penguin
B – The Cold Plunge, Edge Theory Labs Tub

Tier 3:

Made usually of cheap components, cheap filtering system, higher decibel level, heavy maintenance, and almost all are Chinese imports.

NOTE: I tell people 98% of the health benefits of being in a cold plunge are not related the plunge itself (you must pump it out immediately after).
